We Love to hate our national institutions
A 9:50 flight from Heathrow to Los Angeles is a treat on any day, but this one was special. The computer systems managing the routing failed, the baby life jackets went out of date and all in all we left almost an hour late. Not that any of this mattered: BA had moved our LAX to SFO flight from early afternoon to 21:30 giving us a massive 8 hour break between flights.
Our “default” seats were the back row with “limited recline” so we changed to a row of 3 and an extra legroom seat in the front. Note to self: Next time check in as soon as you can.
What do you do when you have an 8 hour wait at LAX? Taxi to Manhattan beach where you can get ice-cream.
And dig, and visit the aquarium at the end of the oldest pier in LA. You can also get stung in your foot by a lost bee.
Nobody really remembers the last flight to SFO, and the short taxi ride to Fremont but the hotel was nice.
